I was driving the other day along a familiar strip of country highway which had tall pines on either side and I was actually thinking about how dark it seemed.

 As I turned a curve, my attention was captured by mysterious bright pink objects to the side of the road ahead.  I was actually stunned by the sight because I could not imagine what it could be.  Because I am familiar with the area, I was excited to drive closer to investigate.

 At first I thought of fire but the objects were shining but not burning at all.

 As I got closer, I realized it was only a couple of barns which had caught the sun’s light perfectly.  The reason the light from the sun shone so bright was there were no trees or buildings to obstruct the reflection.

Immediately, I thought of how many obstructions I allow on my journey of life.

They do not hinder my progress but just make the way seem dull and dark.

Life will always supply things or people to come between us and our Light which is the Son of God.

Staying in the “shade” of our challenges is our decision.  Although we may not be able to physically move the obstructions, we may be able to move to a place where we can clearly see the light of God and allow it to reflect on us.  What beautiful changes that movement could make!

I hope I do not soon forget my delight in seeing the hot pink shining buildings which were really old barns simply reflecting the light of the sun.

Don’t allow yourself to miss out; God wants to speak to us during everyday drives as we happily go down life’s roads.
